Friend, I wanted to be sure you saw this news:
On Friday, The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced their 2024 "Frontline" Democrats. These are the House members considered to be the most at-risk in the coming election cycle. I was added to this list.
I can’t say I’m totally surprised. As a freshman member in a swing district, Republicans know 2024 is probably their best and only shot at taking this seat. I was elected with just 51.8% of the vote in 2022, and the outcome was never a foregone conclusion. In fact, we were outraised by our opponent by more than $2 million!
I want to be very clear here: I don't believe for a second that who has the most money will decide who wins this race. Yes, Republican super PACs are going to throw millions of dollars in attacks at us. For our part, we need to believe in our message, run our own race, and attract the voters who will help us win.
But here’s what’s troubling: We're coming up short of our own internal fundraising goals to run a winning campaign. That's not ideal – especially as we close in on our first FEC fundraising deadline of the new year.
Now that I’m officially on the Frontline, I'm hoping you can send in $5 to give my campaign a much-need boost. I know we ask a lot, but please know I wouldn't be emailing personally if it weren't urgent.

If we learned anything from our last campaign, it's that early resources can make a huge impact in shaping the dynamic of this race. Strong early numbers could mean larger PACs are more wary of challenging us. It can also prevent potential opponents from jumping in against me.
And unlike any of our would-be Republican opponents, I'm relying on individual donors to keep this seat blue. So thank you in advance for chipping in.

All my best,
