John, this is an
awful case of police violence. (Trigger warning:)

Connecticut state troopers just shot Mubarak Soulemane, a teenage boy, to
death. He was suffering from a mental health crisis.

He was only a danger to himself. The window was rolled up. The car blocked
in. And he had a knife on his lap. He needed a doctor. He needed treatment
and medication. He needed compassion and patience.

But no. Through the window, during a mental health crisis, police murdered
him. They boxed him in and surrounded his vehicle. They held him at
gunpoint, shattered his window, and tased him. One officer fired seven
rounds into his body, killing him.

This is a case of unconstitutional force. Police murdered Mubarak.

But prosecutors (often called district attorneys) are some of the only
elected positions that hold police accountable.

help Real Justice elect prosecutors all over the country who aren’t afraid
to stand up to police.

Mubarak was 19 years old and just a few credits away from finishing his
associates degree. He suffered from a mental health condition that caused
schizophrenic episodes. His family was getting him help. Police were aware
of his condition because they had assisted in taking him to the hospital
in the past.

A few days before police shot him, he’d gone missing. His family reported
his disappearance and searched for him. Before they could find him –
police did. It’s heartbreaking.

[ [link removed] ]If you can chip in to help Real Justice elect prosecutors who will
hold police like these state troopers in Connecticut accountable, do that
here.

Thank you for chipping in. Also, please [ [link removed] ]follow @justiceformubarak and
spread the word about his story.
