#VOTEPROCHOICE

Friends and allies, We are so excited to be kicking our priority state work into high gear. Our priority states are places where we know our candidate coaching and voter engagement work is most crucial and impactful. We’re targeting 3.97 million voters in Kentucky, Virginia, Texas, and Pennsylvania this year, and this is why. KENTUCKY We have been active in Kentucky since 2018. In 2022, Kentucky voters rejected an anti-choice ballot measure, but a trigger ban remains in place while legal challenges continue. This year, we’re aiming to build on the prochoice majority identified in the ballot initiative campaign, protect the Democratic incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear, gain open seats of Attorney General, Treasurer and so many more, and challenge the anti-choice Secretary of State. In Kentucky, our work will target over 180,000 low-propensity, high-potential voters. VIRGINIA Virginia has been a priority state since 2017. It serves as a vital access point for out-of-state patients, but abortion in Virginia remains unprotected. With a strongly anti-choice Governor and split legislative chambers, it’s vital that we engage and mobilize over 600,000 identified low-propensity, high-potential voters. We recently supported Jennifer McClellan in the special congressional election, and we will continue our early endorsement program in the state to protect our prochoice champion incumbents, make gains in the State Senate, and work to win school board seats. TEXAS In Texas, we will continue to build on relationships with local candidates and partners, and focus on key city council races and municipal elections in 13 cities this year. There are also 64 school board districts with 100+ open seats where we can have an outsized impact on access to reproductive education—particularly vital as the state continues to attack both abortion access and healthcare access for LGBTQ+ minors. We will continue to support local candidates early and work with our partners to expand the electorate. With over 600K identified unregistered, likely prochoice voters and an estimated 493,000 low-propensity, high-potential voters, we are working to scale our multi-layered voter outreach programs for maximum impact. PENNSYLVANIA Pennsylvania has 5,000+ local elections this year and remains a vital abortion access point for Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Plus, in 2022, women outpaced men in voter registration by 12% with 20,000 newly registered women. Working with ActBlue, we will be supporting local prochoice champions and continuing our individual and cohort coaching programs and working to turn out over 700K low-propensity, high-potential voters. Our work could not be more important this year, and we hope you’ll support us with a gift of $20.23 to sustain our priority states where this work is needed most. Thank you for being a part of the fight for abortion access and reproductive care, #VOTEPROCHOICE In the news: A proposed six-week abortion ban in Florida could threaten access for the entire South Florida has become a crucial access point for abortion in the region. A six-week ban could stop the wave of out-of-state patients coming in to access the procedure. Texas women denied abortions sue the state, saying the bans put them in danger Man Who Helped Overturn Roe Comes to Wisconsin Supreme Court Race, Which Will Decide Abortion Rights Leonard Leo was Donald Trump’s “judge whisperer,” ensuring the former president appointed judges to the court who would overturn Roe v. Wade. Now, Leo is turning his attention to Wisconsin, where control of the state Supreme Court—and the future of abortion rights in the state—are on the line on April 4. The implications of Walgreens’ decision on abortion pills: Walgreens says it will not start selling an abortion pill in 20 states that had warned of legal consequences if it did so. The drugstore chain’s announcement signals that access to mifepristone may not expand as broadly as federal regulators intended in January, when they finalized a rule change allowing more pharmacies to provide the pill. Police are prosecuting abortion seekers using their digital data — and Facebook and Google help them do it This spring, a woman and her daughter will stand trial in Nebraska after being accused of performing an illegal abortion — with a key piece of evidence provided by Meta, the parent company of Facebook. Wyoming legislature passes strict new anti-abortion measures The two bills prohibit abortions, with narrow exceptions including cases of rape and incest, and criminalize the use of medications to cause abortions. The bills were passed by both houses of the state legislature and await the signature of Gov. Mark Gordon (R), who has approved antiabortion measures in the past. Gordon has 15 calendar days to act on the bills and will consider them carefully, said his spokesman Michael Pearlman. What Happens If North Carolina Bans Abortion? Or Ohio? Or Florida? New bans will have outsized impacts on who can get an abortion, how far they have to drive for it and how long they have to wait for an appointment. A new analysis by Caitlin Myers, an economics professor at Middlebury College who studies abortion, illustrates how abortion access could continue to dwindle this year if key states like Florida and North Carolina pass additional restrictions. Our work is more important than ever, so if you're able, donate today as we continue the fight for reproductive freedom.

#VOTEPROCHOICE is electing a new class of prochoice champions to fight for our autonomy to control our own bodies. Every elected official must protect reproductive freedom. If you want to support our work to elect prochoice champions at every level and empower prochoice voters to elect candidates who truly represent our values of full personal body autonomy, please make a contribution today!
