Andrew Introduces Resolution To Combat DC's Anti-Police Law
This week, Andrew joined with Congressman Andrew Clyde to introduce a joint resolution of disapproval to strike down the D.C. Council’s Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Emergency Amendment Act of 2022. In a statement Andrew said, “For years Democrats in Washington and New York have vilified law enforcement — gutting morale, enacting policies that prevent officers from effectively doing their jobs, and inciting violent anti-police sentiment. Dedicated public servants are resigning in record numbers due to the current policing environment with very few willing to take their place. This Joint Resolution would disapprove of the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022 which was passed by the D.C. Council in defiance of very real safety concerns raised by law enforcement. It’s time to say enough is enough and push back on the anti-police narrative, starting here in our nation’s capital.” Learn more here.

Republican Reps. Andrew Clyde of Georgia and Andrew Garbarino of New York introduced a joint resolution of disapproval on Thursday to block the Washington, D.C., City Council’s Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Emergency Amendment Act of 2022. The legislation was first obtained by the Daily Caller and focuses on the D.C. crime law, which reduces police power amid rising crime in the district. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) faces a historic staffing shortage and has struggled to recruit new officers...'For years Democrats in Washington and New York have vilified law enforcement — gutting morale, enacting policies that prevent officers from effectively doing their jobs, and inciting violent anti-police sentiment,' Garbarino told the Caller. 'Dedicated public servants are resigning in record numbers due to the current policing environment with very few willing to take their place. This Joint Resolution would disapprove of the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022 which was passed by the D.C. Council in defiance of very real safety concerns raised by law enforcement. It’s time to say enough is enough and push back on the anti-police narrative, starting here in our nation’s capital.' The joint resolution picked up support from the D.C. Police Union, who said the act’s proposals are dangerous and would lead to more crime in the nation’s capital.

Andrew, Labor Leaders Call on Governor Hochul To Invest In New York's Infrastructure After State Fails To Fund Bridge and Highway Repairs
This week, Andrew joined with Rebuild NY Now, local labor leaders, elected officials, and community leaders in Brookhaven to call on Governor Hochul to increase the state's investment in New York infrastructure. Andrew helped delivered a historic federal infrastructure investment to New York in 2021, but to date the state has failed to fund the NYSDOT Capital Plan at appropriate levels. With inflation and the rising cost of materials, Governor Hochul and her Administration have a responsibility to ensure the state pulls its weight in the effort to restore New York’s roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure.
Andrew Recognizes Bishop Robert Brennan
Last weekend, Andrew attended the Lindenhurst Grand Marshal Green-Tie Gala ahead of the Lindenhurst St. Patrick's Day parade to honor this year's Grand Marshal Robert J. Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, for his nearly 34 years of service. Andrew presented Bishop Brennan with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition.
CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Ensuring Continued Medicare Coverage
A constituent contacted Andrew's office seeking assistance for her 99 year old mother who suffers from Congestive Heart Failure. She was told that Medicare was requiring that her mother be recertified to keep the oxygen machine she needs at home. Her mother can hardly walk and cannot leave the house, so the constituent requested someone be sent to the house to give her mother give her the recertification but was denied. Her supply of oxygen was set to expire at the end of this month. Andrew's casework team contacted the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and determined that the oxygen supplier was mistaken about the need for recertification and that her mother will continue to be able to receive her oxygen.

Andrew knows how frustrating dealing with bureaucracy can be. That is why he has an entire team dedicated to helping constituents get what they need for the federal government. If you need help dealing with a federal agency, contact our office and our team will get to work on your case.

Andrew Votes To Declassify Information Related To The Origin of COVID
The Department of Energy recently reported that the origin was COVID was likely a lab leak in Wuhan, China. This week, Andrew voted to pass S.619, the COVID–19 Origin Act of 2023, which requires the Director of National Intelligence to declassify all information on the origin of COVID-19 and any potential links with the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Republicans have been demanding transparency on the origins of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The American people deserve to know the truth about COVID's origins so that we can hold China accountable and prevent anything like this from happening again.
