Hi John,

It's been a full-on month with cyclones on the East Coast and in the Far North. These present some challenges in terms of the rebuild in these regions, but despite the seriousness of these, the challenges we face here are not diminished. Inflation is still out of control, and I'm continually amazed by how much a small basket of groceries costs for our family when we go to the supermarket.

Recent figures also show that crime is on a significant rise, with retail crime in our region doubling between 2018 and 2022. Victimisation (crimes committed directly against people in our region) is up 48% in Kāpiti and more than 25% in Horowhenua. I've visited businesses that have experienced ram raids and smash-and-grabs right across the electorate, and it's clear that change is needed, so I'm calling a public meeting to discuss this.

Join Whangaparāoa MP Mark Mitchell and me for a public meeting to discuss National's plan to restore law and order, targeting serious repeat offenders, backing Police, and tackling gangs. The meeting will take place in Levin:

  • Wednesday April 5th
  • 5pm
  • Levin Senior Citizen's Hall
  • 1 Montgomery St, Levin

Family Boost

Did you see our recent announcement on our Family Boost package, offering families up to $75 per week to help with child care? You can read more about it by clicking the image below.

Three Waters Update

Thanks to the HUGE crowd that packed into our Public Meeting in Paraparaumu. And thanks to all those who helped put out all the extra chairs. We had a great meeting and two days later National announced our plan to deliver water well locally. It keeps ownership in the hands of ratepayers but it invests in the much needed infrastructure and maintains clear standards to ensure we have confidence when we turn on the tap. Read about it here.

Other events

As always I've been busy at a huge number of events. You might have seen me in the local paper speaking to groups like Rebus, the Horowhenua Travel Club or local businesses and clubs. I've already started knocking on doors to re-introduce myself to everyone, and you've probably seen me at local markets and events, from Children's Day to the Kite Festival and more.

This weekend I've been at Fale Pasifika Festival in Levin, the Rural Games supporting Ōtaki locals competing, an Ōtaki College event, and markets. This coming week I have Central District Field Days, local business events, Maoriland Film Festival, Movies in the Park and more.

Phone Calling

Finally, we're on the lookout for some extra helpers with phone calling. We do it as a group, and provide phones and training. If you think this could be you, perhaps you could send us your details here.

A bit about me

Here's a quick intro to me and why I'm standing. Please share this on facebook and with others around the local area:

I need a huge team to help National get over the line this year. I'll leave you with the three easiest ways you can support us if you'd like to:

Sign up to help

It will take a huge team of volunteers to win this year. We need people to help with some admin behind the scenes, join teams who help at markets and waving signs and knocking on doors, and people to offer space for a sign on a fence or in a shop window.

If you can lend us just one or two hours this year, please sign up here.

Turn up to support

Simply being there counts; it makes a real difference. Sign up here (and share this with family and friends) to get my regular emails and find out about the next event I'll be at, or follow me on facebook and instagram. We'd love you to come along and support.

If you get good photos of me while I'm out and about, please email them to: [email protected].

Join up and belong

If you're a current National Party member, please renew your membership today. If you haven't thought about joining us before, perhaps this is the year. We need a strong team locally because the National Party is a grass-roots party, controlled by local members. We are the sum-total of all those members, so there is no better way to shape or grow our party than to join it.

You can do that online, or contact our membership coordinator, Lorraine, 027 201 2504.

Thanks for all your support, and please keep spreading the good word about me, and what National are doing locally.

Kind regards,
