Social Security has been a promise and a critical safety net to working Americans for decades.

But right now, Kevin McCarthy is holding debt ceiling legislation hostage in exchange for cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Republicans even want to create a “commission” which will attempt to cut Social Security out of the public eye.

Our Social Security system is the most popular government program that there is, and cutting Social Security and Medicare would only be a handout to millionaires and billionaires. It’s time for a tax system that benefits working people and ensures the top 1%, Wall Street, and large corporations pay their fair share.

Expanding Social Security with no cuts is the will of the overwhelming majority of Americans. To do that, we need to elect progressives who will govern for the 99%, not corporations and the rich.
