John,
Did you know that just last year, unions hit their highest approval among Americans since 1965? Something important is happening here — a labor movement that won’t take no for an answer.
Without labor unions, we wouldn't have the weekend, overtime pay, workplace safety rules, and laws protecting against child labor exploitation — and that’s just scratching the surface. Unions have helped secure every major labor law we have in America, and this is just the beginning.
Now, with the reintroduction of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, we’re so close to passing major, transformational protections for workers. And we won’t stop until it’s law.
History has proven over and over again the power of organized labor. That’s why I promise you I will never stop fighting for a better life for us all — but I need your help to convince my colleagues to pass the PRO Act immediately.
We must ensure Congress passes the PRO Act to protect working people across America. The PRO Act will empower workers to unionize, and bargain for better wages and working conditions, hold corporations accountable for union-busting, and repeal so-called “right to work” laws.
I was proud to be an original lead sponsor of the PRO Act in the House, where we passed it in 2021. Now we have the chance to pass it again, and I won’t stop fighting until this bill reaches President Biden’s desk.
The fearmongers will try to tell us we’re too radical, that our demands are impossible, that they come at too high a cost, that they hurt small businesses, that people will lose jobs. We only need to look at my hometown Seattle to prove them wrong — union jobs and protections help us all.
Thank you for taking action today.
In solidarity,
Pramila
