My team and I ended last week on the road. From Kittson County up north to Cottonwood County down south—and seven counties in between—Team Fischbach was out connecting with fellow conservatives at their respective Minnesota GOP conventions. I was also on the road, joining friends in Stearns and Douglas counties. One of the great pleasures of serving is meeting incredible people from every corner of the 7th District. I am grateful to my team for helping me keep in touch with constituents all across our expansive district.
I joined my colleague, Congressman Brad Finstad, and Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst in calling on the Secretary of Agriculture to extend the trial of line speeds at six pork processing plants. Thanks to our efforts, the USDA agreed to extend the trial run through November 2023. Increased line speeds are safe and effective when combined with adequate staffing and help lower consumer costs. While I applaud this decision, we will continue to seek a long-term solution for pork producers.
Just how much is President Biden’s failed agenda costing taxpayers? That’s what House Republicans want to find out. I supported the passage of the REIN IN INFLATION ACT, which would require the Office of Management and Budget to put a price tag on each and every executive order President Biden concocts. The best way to bring accountability is with transparency. When you go to a store to buy something, you look at what it costs. The same should be said for government spending. I look forward to the Senate bringing this important piece of legislation to a vote.
Speaking of this administration’s cost to taxpayers, Biden released his FY2024 budget late in the week. The federal government doesn't have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem. Based on the top-line summary, his budget proposal will only make it worse. I’ll be digging into the details and sharing more information next week.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
