As part of the our American History Initiative, the Jack Miller Center has partnered with Lee Habeeb's Our American Stories ([link removed]) to tell extraordinary stories of our country's history that aren't being told.
The nation's fastest growing podcast, Our American Stories is now featuring JMC professors and scholars to engage listeners with an inspiring story drawn from their area of study.

Let's face it: our nation's people no longer know the American story of freedom, which is why the Jack Miller Center works hard everyday to restore civic education grounded in America's founding principles and history.

Now, our network of educators can also reach the broader public with inspiring stories that reveal how ordinary Americans throughout history have helped our nation fulfill the principles enshrined in our nation's founding documents.

Our American Stories: A Friendship Forged in Competition and Courage

Our first contribution is written and told by JMC's own Elliott Drago ([link removed]) , editorial officer and U.S. historian, on the Olympic champion Jesse Owens and the friendship he formed with the Nazi German track star, Luz Long. This powerful and inspiring story reveals how sports can unite people even in the toughest of circumstances.

Elliott Drago ([link removed]) is a United States historian and editorial officer at the Jack Miller Center. He is author of Street Diplomacy ([link removed]) : The Politics of Slavery and Freedom in Philadelphia, 1820-1850 (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2022).

The Jack Miller Center is a nationwide network of scholars and teachers who are dedicated to advancing the core texts and ideas of the American political tradition.
