Dear Friends,
It’s been my true honor as your representative to help bring home federal dollars for local projects that support our communities and promote economic growth. One of the key avenues through which I’ve delivered these investments has been the Community Project Funding process. Since this process opened up to congressional offices two years ago, I’ve delivered more than $27 million for twenty-five diverse projects in our Capital Region, ranging from clean energy initiatives and public health programs to broadband internet expansion and water infrastructure upgrades. Now, it’s my pleasure to announce that local governments and non-profits in our Capital Region can once again apply for a new round of Community Project Funding!
Prospective applicants can request funding from one of several eligible accounts, ranging from Agriculture and Rural Development to Transportation and Housing and Urban Development. With significant changes to these accounts being implemented this year, my office is providing a comprehensive Guidance Document listing all eligible sources of federal dollars for this year’s process. Interested governments and organizations are encouraged to read this document carefully to determine whether their project is eligible to receive funding for Fiscal Year 2024.
Over the past two years, I’ve been honored to lend my support to a wide array of projects developed by dedicated local leaders, and I’m proud to have secured funding for all twenty-five of the proposals I championed. Some of these past projects include:
- $3,000,000 for the City of Cohoes to install floating solar panels on the Cohoes reservoir, a project already serving as a model for communities across America striving to implement smarter, cleaner energy systems that protect our environment and drive down consumer costs.
- $2,065,000 for Hudson Valley Community College to purchase state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and new classroom furniture for HVCC’s North Campus, increasing enrollment capacity for high-demand programs in STEM, health sciences, and skilled trades.
- $1,687,500 for the Town of Westerlo to expand broadband internet access to hundreds of previously unserved and underserved households.
- $800,000 for the City of Mechanicville to replace miles of outdated and unreliable water mains that currently serve thousands of Capital Region residents and businesses.
- $505,359 for the Erie Canalway Heritage Fund to preserve and restore the Matton Shipyard and its historic buildings, creating a vibrant historical, cultural, and recreational community hub for residents and visitors to enjoy for generations to come.
These are just a few of the investments I’ve been proud to deliver, and I look forward to learning more about this year’s innovative projects in our district!
Local governments and non-profit organizations can submit their proposals using my office’s online application form HERE.
The deadline to submit proposals is March 17, 2023 at 6:00 PM EST. All submissions must be made electronically via our office’s online form, and incomplete requests, PDFs, or hard copy requests will not be accepted. Requests will be reviewed and considered on a rolling basis, so I encourage you to submit requests as soon as possible. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office. We are here to assist you however we are able.
I am always proud to bring home federal investments for local initiatives that bring economic growth and good-paying jobs to our Capital Region. Over the coming weeks, my staff and I will work around the clock to review eligible projects and advance the proposals that will deliver the most significant benefits to our region. I am eager to get to work advocating for this year’s projects in Washington and to continue my efforts to make certain our communities have the resources they need to thrive.
As always, thank you for reading.
