John,
The postal service is a fundamental part of American society, providing essential services to millions of people every day. It connects families, friends, and businesses, enabling them to communicate and trade goods and services across the country.
Republicans have long been critical of the USPS and have proposed a number of measures that would reduce its funding and limit its services. Their dream is privatizing the postal service and Trump-appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has a 10-year plan to make it happen.
These efforts pose a serious threat to the millions of Americans who rely on the USPS for mail delivery and other essential services and now with Republicans currently controlling the U.S. House of Representatives, the threat to the postal service is greater than ever.
It is up to us to save the USPS from Wall Street and Louis DeJoy. Send a direct message to the USPS Board of Governors and demand they take urgent and decisive action to put an immediate stop to Louis DeJoy's reckless and destructive 10-year plan to privatize the postal service.
Privatizing the postal service means that it will be run as a profit-driven corporation whose sole aim is to maximize profits.
The reality is that many essential services that were previously provided by the postal service would be discontinued altogether. It would have devastating consequences for millions of Americans who rely on the postal service, especially those who live in rural areas, and indigenous communities that depend on the USPS delivering mail at a flat rate they can afford.
Privatization of the post office would result in location closures, service gaps, wage cuts and job losses for thousands of postal workers, including many that have worked for the USPS for decades and have built their careers and lives around this stable source of employment.
Additionally, the USPS is a significant employer of veterans and people with disabilities, providing meaningful employment opportunities for these communities. Privatization would have a disproportionate impact on these groups, leading to reduced employment opportunities and worsening economic inequality.
Privatization of the USPS would have far-reaching consequences. Send a clear message to the USPS Board of Governors to take action now -- before it’s too late.
Thank you for taking action to protect the USPS for generations to come.
