I normally don’t send emails about the weather, but here in California it has been insane.

Last week, parts of our state were in a state of emergency because of snow. A few weeks earlier we had torrential flooding here in the Valley. Now we’re bracing for two more “atmospheric rivers.”

And I’m not just here to vent - there are real consequences to extreme weather. I know multiple families still unable to move back into their houses because of flooding.

Any member of Congress from California should be able to see what’s happening right now - it’s climate change and it’s a severe threat. And yet Kevin McCarthy (literally my neighbor one district over) refuses to admit climate change is real!

The science is clear and it’s telling us climate change is only going to get worse unless we take immediate action. We’re already seeing the effects it will have on communities like mine.

I strongly believe if we want to get ahead of this crisis, we have to elect a Democratic majority in Congress who believe in passing legislation (like my landmark climate change bill!) to reduce our carbon emissions and make us a leader in the climate solution.
