Friend,

There’s a thought that’s been ringing in my head since it was expressed so perfectly during today’s Senate impeachment proceedings: “Truth crushed to the ground will rise up.”

Even as the Trump administration and Mitch McConnell continue to work in lockstep stonewalling the facts by blocking key documents and witness testimonies, I’ve been deeply impressed by how strategically the House managers have made their case so far.

Facts are stubborn things that speak for themselves. The House managers have relied on these facts – and the mountain of overwhelming evidence – to anticipate and debunk every likely argument made by Trump’s defense team. They’ve laid out the breadth of this conspiracy in breathtaking detail, from the wealth of messages and phone calls to the sheer number of people involved.

But the truth is that there’s still so much evidence that Mitch McConnell is intentionally blocking from this trial. He knows that once all of this evidence is shared, it will be impossible for Republican Senators to avert their gaze and honestly claim that they believe this President is upholding the rule of law and honoring his oath of office.

In this dire moment, we are called to amplify the facts, and our duty demands nothing less. We should never confuse patriotism with the ability to criticize one person in the government. I promise to remain as committed as ever to facing down power and delivering justice on behalf of the American people.

Thank you,

Dick

I’m fighting tirelessly in the Senate to hold President Trump accountable for his illegal and rampant abuse of power. But right now, I need to know where you stand: Will you take just one moment to take a brief survey and let me know where you stand on what’s happening in Washington?
