John,

Democrats in the legislature recently proposed a bill that would have protected Virginians' menstrual data stored on electronic devices from unreasonable searches and seizures. But Republicans blocked it.

In the wake of Roe v. Wade being reversed, there are a lot of concerns about private medical data being susceptible to surveillance — and then being used to prosecute women should they seek abortions in a state that may pass restrictions.

Republicans talk a whole lot about respecting an individual's right to privacy, but that seems to stop when it comes to a woman's right to make personal medical decisions. They can't even pretend to support common-sense legislation to protect data security.

Hala is a former cyber security professional who will bring valuable insight to the table as we attempt to navigate the complicated state of privacy post-Dobbs, and you can always trust her to defend reproductive freedom.

If we want to ever be in a position to pass legislation that will strengthen the right to privacy, we have to first win races like Hala's – and we're fast approaching our next big fundraising deadline. So John, will you pitch in $10 or more to help us meet our mid-month goal of $3,500?

Thanks so much!
