Rep. Pete Aguilar’s (CA-33) bill, H.R. 1226, the Wounded Warrior Access Act, unanimously passed the House of Representatives. The bipartisan bill will streamline the process for veterans to receive a copy of their claim file (“C-File”) for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), while also protecting veterans from the risks posed by working with unaccredited and unqualified claim consultants.
Pappas’ Bipartisan Bill to Expand Veterans’ Emergency Care Coverage Passes House
Rep. Chris Pappas' (NH-01) bill, H.R. 815, the Removing Extraneous Loopholes Insuring Every Veteran Emergency (RELIEVE) Act, passed the House of Representatives. This bipartisan legislation will eliminate a glaring gap in veteran emergency care insurance coverage by expanding emergency coverage under the Community Care Program. Aguilar, Stanton Introduce Legislation to Allow Dreamers to Work in Congress
Reps. Pete Aguilar (CA-33) and Greg Stanton (AZ-04) introduced H.R. 1381, the American Dream Employment Act, which would lift the current ban on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients from working on Capitol Hill. Under current law, employment in the House of Representatives and Senate is only available to those who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents with the intent of naturalizing.
Costa Introduces GRAIN Dry Act to Expand Access to USDA Loans for Propane Storage
Rep. Jim Costa (CA-21) introduced the Growing Rural Ag Infrastructure Needs to Deliver Rising Yields (GRAIN DRY) Act, which would expand the Farm Storage Facility Loan Program (FSFL) through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to include storage of propane for agricultural purposes.

Kilmer Reintroduces Legislation To Protect Federal Workers, Contractors, Their Families From Losing Their Homes, Falling Behind On Bills During Shutdown, Debt Default
Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-06) reintroduced H.R. 1301, the Federal Employee Civil Relief Act, to protect federal workers and their families from foreclosures, evictions, and loan defaults during a government shutdown. This bill would enable government employees and contractors to postpone payment obligations during a shutdown or debt default and for 30 days afterward.
