John: Our schools are struggling to stay afloat. We’ve been dealing with overcrowded classrooms, overworked and underpaid teachers, lack of adequate A/C and heating, and crumbling school buildings.
Our schools are meant to prepare us for the future. But unless we take things into our own hands, there’s not much of a future to prepare for.
And to make matters even worse, our schools are facing unprecedented attacks from extremist, fascist governors like Ron Desantis, school boards across the country are banning books, and we are experiencing school shooting after school shooting.
That's why our generation must take over. That’s why we need a Green New Deal for Schools.
The good news is that we’re building a student movement more powerful than anything or anyone getting in our way. Just a month ago, we kicked off our GND4S Student Takeover Project in Philly with dozens of students from across the country. Since then, students have been hard at work organizing their campuses to build student power and showing solidarity with student mobilizations across the country. And this upcoming Monday, we’re about to launch the next phase of our GND4S work. 👀
Each day, more than 20,000 new young people turn 18 in this country – most of whom align with our values, not theirs. That’s why we know that if we do the work, if we organize, if we wage campaigns in high schools across the country, we can win the world we deserve.
The stakes of this moment are too high for us to slow down. With your support, we can keep up the momentum and launch even more programming over the next week, months, and years. Please consider donating to our Green New Deal for Schools program fund today. And keep an eye out for our launch on Monday!
Thank you so much,
Sunrise
