Hi John,

I send my kids to public schools, and I'm proud of the education they are getting. I'm also proud of the Texas public school teachers who have mentored them. I believe in public education, and I support it.

Like you, I believe that public education is truly the backbone of our nation and our nation's future.

But right now, Texas public education is under attack. Last week, Gov. Greg Abbott voiced his most explicit support yet of defunding Texas public schools. He even lied to the crowd, falsely claiming that This is really about freedom.¹

No. School vouchers are really about gutting our public education system.

We all know well-funded public education means a better future for the state of Texas. But if Governor Abbott and his cronies in the Lege have their way, public schools will be put secondary to the whims of privately-funded ones. That's not what we Texans wants. Yet somehow that doesn't matter to Republican proponents of vouchers.

It’s time to show Texas teachers and Texas legislators just how much public education matters to you and me. Here at Mothers Against Greg Abbott, we couldn’t sit idle watching Republican after Republican disparage the commitment and quality of our Texas public school teachers and our local schools. So with your help, we’re reserving three billboards to make sure our representatives know they need to vote NO on school vouchers . . . ([link removed])

While we know a billboard sign isn’t nearly enough; still we think Texas public schools and educators will appreciate a physical sign that mothers and others like us are standing with them.

. . . And we are pretty sure our state representatives will get the message too.

We’ve already been able to secure one of the three billboards we would need for this campaign. With your support today, we know we can put up one more, right near Governor’s Abbott’s mansion. Can you chip in $15 and help us stand up for Texas Public Schools? ([link removed])
