Dear John,

As you may know, a few weeks ago, I launched a survey to hear from Minnesotans about postal service delays across the Second District and gauge the extent of USPS issues across the South Metro. In the 8 days that the survey was open, my team and I received 3,361 responses from Minnesotans.

Since the survey closed, we’ve been sorting through responses to determine the extent to which USPS delays have impacted you and your families. Your responses detailed everything from lost prescriptions, receiving neighbor’s packages and reports of weeks-long mail delivery delays.

The bottom line? Postal service levels in the Second District remain unacceptable.

Today, I personally delivered your survey responses to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s office in Washington, DC. I’m hopeful that reading these testimonies will motivate the USPS to take action to improve the postal service here in the Second District – and I will not stop working until we have some accountability at the highest levels of USPS leadership.

On a different note, this week I led a bipartisan group of 28 Members of Congress in urging the Food and Drug Administration to fully approve the over-the-counter distribution of Narcan. Narcan is a drug often used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose – and requires no assembly or specialized training to use. It has been found to be safe, effective and has almost no potential for misuse or abuse.

We know that swift intervention is key to reversing overdoses – and making Narcan available over-the-counter will help save lives – and give folks one more chance at treatment and recovery. So, I will keep working to make sure Narcan is accessible and affordable to ensure that anyone who needs it can access this life-saving drug.

Here's what else I've been up to this week:

Meeting with Minnesota Firefighers

Our firefighters play a critical role in keeping our communities safe. This week, I got to say thank you to firefighters from MN and hear what support they need from me in Congress.

Working to Tackle Addiction and Mental Health Care Issues

It’s clear we must make tackling addiction a real priority. On Thursday, I met with addiction professionals from Minnesota to discuss how we can work together to tackle mental health care challenges in MN-02 and beyond.

Welcoming the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association to DC

Keeping Minnesotans safe is my top priority – and there is no better partner in that important work than the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association. Thank you all for the visit – always enjoy seeing you all in DC!

Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:

I thought it would be fun to introduce you to a few of my colleagues from the Energy and Commerce Committee over the next few weeks. We spend a lot of time together in hearings, markups (a 9-hour one on Wednesday) and meetings – so you can get to know them as well.

Up first: my friend from Massachusetts, Rep. Lori Trahan!

It’s been a busy, busy week in DC – so with that, I’ll wrap it up!

I hope you are able to spend time with friends, families and loved ones this weekend!

Until next time,
