This week, I made the opening statement and questioned witnesses at the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) hearing on last month’s train derailment disaster in East Palestine, Ohio. The public’s trust in government is at near record lows, with only 20 percent of Americans saying they trust the government to do the right thing. After the last three years, it’s no wonder that Americans are calling into question the response and advice of government bureaucrats. The Biden administration and Norfolk Southern must step up, take responsibility, and show immediate results to reassure the East Palestine community and prevent another crisis like this in the future.

This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with many great Oklahomans about the issues we‘re facing at home. I met with representatives from Oklahoma City, Bixby, Oologa-Talala, and Shawnee Public Schools to discuss school nutrition and inflation. I also had the chance to hear from the Norman Chamber of Commerce about all the exciting projects coming to the Sooner City. And with Oklahoma's rich and vibrant agricultural industry, I was excited to speak with the National Young Farmers Coalition about preparing the next generation of Oklahoma farmers and ranchers for the future.

This week during a Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP) hearing, I challenged big-union bosses on their claims to be pro-worker. It’s simple: American workers and their families should have the freedom to decide what to do with their hard-earned income—not be forced into paying union dues if they don’t want to do so. If union bosses were really for the employee, they'd drop the intimidation tactics and allow workers to freely choose whether or not to join a union. That's why I'm proud to live in a right-to-work state in Oklahoma.
