John, when
conservative billionaires in San Francisco succeeded in their efforts to
remove Real Justice-backed DA Chesa Boudin from office, we knew how
disastrous it would be for police accountability and justice in SF. That’s
why we spent so much time and energy trying to defeat the recall.

But unfortunately, our tireless efforts couldn’t overcome the more than $6
million spent by the police union and GOP mega-donors who blanketed the
city with misinformation about Chesa. And now we are seeing disastrous
results.

It’s clear that Brooke’s number one priority as DA is to roll back all of
Chesa’s groundbreaking work. As we’ve seen, she dropped the charges
against the officer who killed Keita O’Neil, and now we are fighting to
get AG Rob Bonta to pick up the case and make sure that there’s
accountability.

But that’s not all. The mayor’s appointment of Brooke Jenkins as the new
DA has been bad news from the start. DA Jenkins’s ineffective leadership,
push for mass incarceration, and desire to not hold cops accountable has
been detrimental to the city of San Francisco.

Let us walk you through exactly what she’s done to rollback Chesa’s work
since taking over the DAs office: 

* Brooke Jenkins, in just a few weeks from taking office, fired more
than 15 highly experienced and passionate staffers from the District
Attorney’s office. Her firings left many cases without a prosecutor
and many crucial programs without personnel to function. 
* She also made some very questionable hires in the office. Some of the
hires should have been disqualified from working in the DAs office due
to their past involvement in misconduct scandals. 
* Jenkins has been focusing on locking up more people, and restarting
the failed “war on drugs” to increase mass incarceration. She has even
proposed to charge juveniles as adults for certain crimes and removed
one of California’s most veteran judges from new juvenile cases.
* She has shrunk the unit that is in charge of investigating police
officers for misconduct. As we’ve seen, Jenkins filed a motion to
dismiss the charges against former officer Christopher Samayoa, who
shot and killed unarmed Keita O’Neil in cold blood, and has been
delaying the case against the officer who killed Sean Moore. 

To put it bluntly, John, Brooke
Jenkins is a TERRIBLE DA and her reckless, harmful decisions are hurting
everyday people and not making San Francisco safer. It is because of
pro-incarceration DAs like her that we do this work every day to elect DAs
who center justice, accountability, and civil rights.
