This week, I took a drive to see the VA community-based outpatient clinic that Kevin McCarthy promised to build in Bakersfield for veterans like my dad.
After 7 years, it’s still an empty plot of land.
To me, this photo represents more than just one broken promise.
It reminds me of all the people left behind by politicians like Kevin McCarthy: The families who can’t afford their medications, the students who can’t pay off their college loans, the parents who can’t tell if their children’s water is safe to drink.
Under the leadership of Kevin McCarthy, Bakersfield families have been met with the same emptiness and hopelessness found at the site of that VA clinic.
And the worst part is that Kevin’s been busy. He isn’t doing nothing – he’s just not helping the people who put their trust in him in the first place.
He’s representing the billion-dollar corporations who funded him and the extremists like Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz who gave him his Speaker’s gavel for his unquestioning loyalty.
But it ends now.
It ends when all of us stand up to greedy politicians like Kevin and fight together.
