Neighbors,

Today, I presented the Education Policy Bill [ [link removed] ] in the Education Policy Committee. The measure combines the Minnesota Department of Education?s proposed policy changes along with several provisions heard as standalone bills in the Education Policy Committee before being added to the bill.

This bill will make schools more welcoming learning environments for students, by allowing Indigenous students to learn about and express their cultures and making it more likely students will see teachers of color at the front of the classroom. The bill will also make schools better workplaces and makes teaching and other school-related jobs more attractive.

Making sure our kids learn and thrive is our most important responsibility. This bill removes barriers and creates equal opportunity for all students.

Video of the hearing will be available on House Public Information Services? YouTube channel [ [link removed] ]. Additional information and documents from the hearing are available on the committee webpage [ [link removed] ].

Local Projects Included in Bonding Bill

In a major step toward completing the work set by last session?s bipartisan framework agreement, on Monday the Minnesota House passed two pieces of capital investment legislation to deliver nearly $1.9 billion for local jobs and projects throughout the state. I gladly voted for the bill and am looking forward to seeing these projects become reality, to make our district an even better place to live. You can read my statement [ [link removed] ] about our local projects included in the bill.

Minnesota Partners to End Hunger

Representatives from two organizations on the front lines of meeting the basic needs of members of our community, Jewish Family and Children Services (JFCS [ [link removed] ]) and People Reaching Out to People (PROP [ [link removed] ]) of Eden Prairie, stopped by my office this week. I learned the sad reality about the unprecedented demand for their services. I thanked them for stopping and assured them I am a partner in their mission. ?
