Hi friend,

As you know, amid a wealth of misinformation from billionaires, Prop 30 (the Clean Cars and Clean Air Act) was defeated last year. The measure would have invested $800 million into extreme wildfire prevention and resilience.

While the defeat stings, we’re still in the fight to get California to make a bigger investment in frontline communities, firefighters, and clean air.

Most Californians support taking proper actions towards solving our state’s extreme wildfire problem, with the vast majority of Californians in support of using controlled burning as a primary solution, according to The Nature Conservancy’s recent polls.

There is also overwhelming support for regular funding: 2/3 of the public supports investing $50-60 billion annually over 10 years for controlled burn programs!

We don’t have to convince Californians to support wildfire prevention and resilience. We have to convince our lawmakers to listen to Californians’ voices and actually do something.

Our legislature’s actions should reflect the wants of their constituents. Tell California leaders: We can’t wait for the next extreme wildfire, we need to be investing heavily NOW → [link removed]

The severity of wildfires is increasing as climate change creates drier and hotter conditions. Firefighters continue to suffer from mental and physical health ailments as a result of poor funding and lack of resources. We have no time to waste to invest in this critical issue.

Unless we invest significantly in our firefighting staff and effective methods of wildfire management like prescribed burns, Californians will continue to pay exorbitant amounts of money in overtime, lose firefighters, and have out-of-control wildfires threatening frontline communities.

Thank you for supporting this critical issue.
