The Committee of Supply (COS) debates drew to a close earlier this week, where our Members of Parliament scrutinised government spending and pushed for change to ensure that Singapore is well-positioned for the post-pandemic future.

Leader of the House Indranee Rajah said that Budget 2023 would enable the PAP Government to adapt more nimbly to the changed world and to secure Singapore's future, anchored by a fair, sound and sustainable fiscal plan.

Here’s a recap of what our MPs have spoken up for.

We want to foster a united and caring society. During the COS debate on Ministry of Social and Family Development’s budget, our MPs asked questions relating to sustaining social mobility and supporting persons with disabilities.

They also spoke up on the challenges facing Malay/Muslims, and suggested how we could overcome them.

On healthcare, our MPs pushed for change towards a healthier Singapore. Chair of the PAP GPC for Health Tan Wu Meng called on the Government to design health policies from the patients' and caregivers' point of view. Watch more.
The PAP government has stepped up in its green ambition, with our MPs pushing for more to be done, such as helping workers and businesses to transform to the green economy, promoting recycling and fighting dengue.
Every Singaporean should have the opportunity to experience a fulfilling career regardless of their history or circumstances. Our MPs believe more can be done to create the space for fellow Singaporeans to thrive. Read more.
Members of Parliament must be responsible for what they do and say in the House, else Singaporeans pay the price, Leader of the House Indranee Rajah emphasised this while outlining the principles for an effective Parliament. Read more.
Everyone has a part to play as Singapore charts its way forward. This International Women’s Day, the PAP Women’s Wing launched a year-long series of community initiatives reflecting some of the different causes our women MPs and Branch Chairs have been taking action on.

As WW Chairwoman Sim Ann said, “It is our collective voices and action that will make a difference and create the inclusive society that we all want to see.”
