John,
I’m sure it wouldn’t surprise you, but Donald Trump just broke yet another
promise to the American people by admitting he would cut Medicare,
Medicaid, and Social Security.
When asked at the World Economic Forum if he’d ever consider cutting our
social safety net programs, Trump exclaimed:
“At some point they will be. We have tremendous growth. We’re going to have
tremendous growth. This next year I—it’ll be toward the end of the year. The
growth is going to be incredible. And at the right time, we will take a look at
that. You know, that’s actually the easiest of all things, if you look, cause
it’s such a big percentage.”
Naturally, as soon as folks called him out on it, Trump flip-flopped and
went back to claiming he’ll be the one to “save” Social Security from the
Democrats. Yeah, okay, just like how he “saved” healthcare and coverage of
pre-existing conditions from Democrats too.
Trump’s already sabotaged the Affordable Care Act, repealed countless
bedrock environmental protections, and gave the biggest tax breaks to
corporations and the ultra-wealthy in American history. Plus, we know
Trump’s Republican buddies want to gut these programs to the bone, and if
we see another term of Trump in the White House, you can count on them
getting their wish.
This is exactly why we need to remove Trump from office, flip the Senate,
and hold the House majority in November. DFA is directly supporting
progressive candidates up and down the ballot in all 50 states to make it

Progressives aren’t just ready to defend Medicare, Medicaid, and Social
Security from attacks. We know that the best defense is a strong offense.
That’s why, we’ll keep fighting to pass Medicare for All and expanding
Social Security, while also defending both of them and Medicaid from
attacks. It’s time to fix what’s broken, improve upon what works, and do
what it takes to ensure every American can not just survive or barely get
by, but thrive.
Thank you for all of your support,
