Permitless carry is dangerously close to becoming law in Florida, John.
Today, state legislators passed a bill through committee that would allow anyone to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. The bill will now go to the Senate floor for a final vote. These lawmakers, led by NRA darling Gov. Ron DeSantis, are willfully ignoring the will of their constituents – across party lines, 77% of Floridians oppose permitless carry. Lawmakers are trying to pass these deadly laws anyway.
The passage of this bill would mean that the majority of states in the U.S. would exist under permitless carry. If you're one of the majority of Americans who opposes permitless carry, add your name to our urgent petition right now. >>
In Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming, anyone can carry a concealed weapon, anywhere, without a permit.
Far-right lawmakers with extremist interpretations of the Second Amendment will continue to do everything they can to pass these laws – in fact, lawmakers in South Carolina and Nebraska are following Florida’s lead and forcing permitless carry bills through state legislatures. If our lawmakers won't due their duty to save lives, it’s up to us to fight back.
