Greetings from Pennsylvania!
I am just coming down from the excitement of being with many, many dear friends at CPAC. Thanks to Mercedes and Matt Schlapp, thousands of conservatives gathered in Maryland at the National Harbor and we heard from former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former governor and presidential hopeful Nikky Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former President Donald J. Trump. While the first three candidates were brief, President Trump’s speech was a magnum opus that laid out his intended policies.
I recently returned from speaking to Caribbean and Latin American parliamentarians, business owners, and security partners at an intelligence and security forum in Panama and asked them to choose the US over China as a trading partner.
Pennsylvania continues to be without an active senator while John Fetterman remains in the hospital for mental health treatment. I have publicly called for Governor Josh Shapiro to appoint a new senator to capably and competently represent Pennsylvania in the Senate. This is the most dangerous period in our lifetime, and we need a great representative to help build our country back from the pandemic and keep us safe from the many foreign and domestic threats. Depending on when Governor Shapiro replaces the incapacitated senator, we should have an election in 2023 or 2024 to replace John Fetterman.
One of the exciting new efforts that the Center for Energy & Environment at the AFPI is committed to is Twitter Space. Our Twitter Spaces have been well attended and have had energy experts and folks that are concerned about the administration’s efforts to de-bank and discourage the use of fossil fuels and fund, through tax dollars a transition to renewable energy that is not yet developed enough to power our country and economy.
I learned this week that the Pennsylvania GOP is working on a ballot program so that we win elections in 2023 and 2024. If you are in Pennsylvania, I hope you support the candidates for Judge so that we elect good and fair judges, especially the State Supreme Court.
Warmly,
Carla Sands
US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark (ret.)
