Dear Friend,

The Biden administration is accepting comments from the public about its proposed rule to bring back a Trump-era asylum ban. Essentially, no matter how compelling someone’s claim, the rule presumes that they are not eligible for asylum unless they (1) apply for asylum in another country before coming to the southern border, or (2) enter at an official port of entry with a previously scheduled appointment through a Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) mobile application. 

The rule will almost certainly result in the senseless death of LGBTQ refugees, most of whom would otherwise find safety through asylum in the United States. Requiring LGBTQ & HIV-positive refugees to remain in unsafe circumstances is inhumane and cruel.

The time to act is now. We have 18 days left to demand that President Biden withdraw his proposed federal rule. We need your help to tell the Biden administration that we won’t stand for this.

Submit a comment by March 27th telling President Biden he cannot put LGBTQ people in danger by restricting asylum protection.

With just 18 days left, President Biden must take immediate action and withdraw this proposed rule. Can we count on you to send the strongest possible message to him?
