In a crowded room, people gathered around a small table that held a pen and a folder. A man sat down, picked up his pen, opened the folder, and added his signature to the page inside. Applause broke out, as people cheered, hugged, and shed tears of joy.

This was the scene last week when the governor of Minnesota signed a voting rights restoration bill into law. Thanks to a decade or more of work by our partners on the ground and your advocacy, the right to vote has now been reinstated for over 55,000 people on probation and parole in the state, some of which were in that very room.

This is a huge win, and it’s only the tip of the iceberg of the incredible work happening across the country. From New Mexico to Illinois to Wisconsin, states are leading the charge in the movement to protect and expand democracy.

Learn more about the critical work Stand Up America is doing this year to expand voting rights and elect democracy champions in states across the country.
