Michigan Democrats are proving exactly what real leadership looks like, Team. Yesterday, Democrats passed critical legislation to move Michigan forward.
* House Democrats passed a commonsense gun violence prevention bill to require background checks for gun purchases to help keep our neighborhoods safe while respecting Second Amendment rights.
* House Democrats voted to repeal Right to Work to restore workers’ rights to collectively bargain and to restore prevailing wage requirements so every worker can be paid a fair wage.
* Senate Democrats voted to repeal the unconstitutional 1931 abortion ban to make clear to every Michigander that reproductive freedom is protected in our state.
* Michigan Democrats voted to expand the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to protect the LGBTQ+ community in a meaningful way from discriminatory practices.
Nearly every Michigan Republican failed to support these critical pieces of legislation and instead chose to play political games with Michigan’s future.
Instead of trying to score political points, Michigan Democrats are working hard in Lansing to deliver solutions to the real issues Michiganders face. For too long, Republicans have failed our state but that time is over.
