JOHN,
Today’s scammers are sophisticated, sly, and always on the prowl for their next victim.
I don’t want anyone to be caught in a scammer’s sneaky web of lies, but nothing is more disheartening than seeing it happen to our nation’s heroes. Did you know veterans are twice as likely as the general public to fall victim to scams? Plus, four out of five veterans and service members report being the target of scams directly related to their military service or benefits.
I’m sick of hearing about this mistreatment, and I won’t tolerate it. That’s why I introduced the Veterans Protection from Fraud Act last Congress, and earlier this week, voted for the Wounded Warrior Access Act, which directs the VA to warn veterans about predatory behavior and provide them with resources to protect themselves from swindlers.
Why am I talking about this today? Because it’s National Slam the Scam Day, an opportunity to continue to warn Americans about these money-grabbing dirtbags. Remember, real government officials will NEVER threaten you with arrest or legal action, especially on the grounds of sending money.
JOHN, it would mean a lot to me if you could pitch in your support as I continue to advocate on behalf of our beloved veterans. Are you able to donate $10 today? Every little bit helps.
