JOHN,
Before I ran for office, I was a community organizer fighting for racial, social, environmental, and economic justice. One of my inspirations was a local organizer named Mama Lila Cabbil―a water warrior, civil rights activist, fighter for racial justice, a defender of democracy, and a transit advocate.
When we launched our youth civic engagement fellowship, we wanted to embody the same organizing and activism that Mama Lila brought to our communities.
Our 2023 youth fellows range in age from 14 to 17 and are 100% BIPOC. 85% identify as female, 7% male, and 7% non-binary. They represent the most diverse generation in American history and are ready to lead on critical issues impacting us today, and impacting their generation for decades to come.
Over this 8-month fellowship, they’ll learn community organizing skills as well as what it means to be rooted in progressive values. They will receive 32 hours of instruction, participate in 32 hours of field work, and receive a $1,000 stipend for full participation.
We’re in the 3rd month of our 8-month training and your support today is critical in providing them with the skills they need to be leaders in their local communities. Pitch in $5 now to train the leaders of tomorrow today.

Always serving you,

John,
Young voters turned out in record numbers to fight for critical issues impacting their generation―from the climate crisis to access to higher education to jobs and wages and more.
The leaders of tomorrow are ready to lead now. That’s exactly why we launched our youth civic engagement fellowship, to provide young people with the tools and resources to be organizers and leaders in their local community.
Our 2023 Youth Civic Engagement Fellowship launched in January, training 13 Fellows, ages 14 to 17 in areas ranging from grassroots organizing to communications. Our Fellows are 100% BIPOC with 85% identifying as women, 7% men, and 7% non-binary.
Each month, our Fellows come together to hear from grassroots and elected leaders, as well as to learn from each other, bringing their own individual experiences to this 8-month training.
One Fellow recently told us:
“In the short time I’ve been in this fellowship I have witnessed immense love, strength, struggles, and power. Surrounded by my likeminded allies, I can clearly say this fellowship is one step in an ongoing marathon to success and prosperity.”
We’re in the 3rd month of this 8 month training, with much more to come including trainings on environmental justice and education justice. Pitch in to my Rooted in Community Leadership PAC now to train the leaders of tomorrow today.

Together, we are empowering the next generation to fight for their future and ours.
In solidarity,
Rashida
