Brave French farmer Paul François isn’t giving up in his quest to hold Monsanto accountable for the damage its poisonous pesticides have caused, but the hits just keep coming.

He was just brutally attacked by three hooded men who threatened him, “We are tired of hearing you and seeing your face on TV,” while tying his legs and arms with electric cables and wrapping a scarf around his neck. He now requires police protection – and he needs our help more than ever. Can you chip in?

John,

It was a huge victory….and then it wasn’t.

After Monsanto’s deadly pesticides caused French farmer Paul François to experience amnesia, seizures, and recurring comas, he sued. For 15 years he fought Monsanto in court and in 2012, he won! But the pesticide giant filed appeal after appeal and it took 10 YEARS for the court to set the amount of compensation.

Then, Monsanto was finally ordered to pay Paul just €11,135, after years of expensive health emergencies and nonstop legal fees.

It’s a slap in the face. And even worse, it will scare others from taking Monsanto to court. But now we can do something about it.

Paul’s still battling massive health challenges and barely has the funds to get by. Our community has stepped in to help before, covering his legal fees – now, he’s asked for our help again.

If enough of us chip in, we can help Paul get back on his feet, then set up a fund to help other farmers sue Monsanto. Are you in?

Paul used Monsanto’s weedkillers every day in his work as a farmer. He was seriously poisoned when he accidentally inhaled the fumes of a pesticide Monsanto said was safe. Now, the father of two has endured repeated hospitalizations, comas, acute headaches, amnesia, dizziness, stuttering, and anxiety – all while trying to fight for justice.

It was a huge deal when the French legal system finally found Monsanto guilty of poisoning a farmer, setting an important precedent for future accountability. But then Monsanto threw its unlimited resources at the case to try to run out the clock and force Paul to give up – and SumOfUs members chipped in to help.

After 15 years of horrible illness, massive legal fees, and the stress and sleepless nights that come with taking on one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world, Paul was ready for the case to be over. But receiving just €11,135 was a slap in the face.

Letting the French decision stand would send a clear message to corporations everywhere – continue operating with impunity because you won’t be held responsible for damage you cause.

But if we come together to help Paul once again, then help other victims take on Monsanto, together we can keep working to hold this pesticide giant to account. Let’s make it happen:
