Adam Schiff for Senate

John, Donald Trump’s predictable attacks against me were once again the centerpiece of his keynote speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference this weekend.

But it’s not just me. Imitating the cadence of his racist attack on immigrants from the start of his first presidential campaign, Trump made another dangerous attack on the press:

Trump giving a speech at CPAC

“They make up Russia, Russia, Russia, which was a plan made up by crooked Hillary Clinton, Adam Shifty Schiff, and the Democrats, the DNC…remember Schiff…he repeated the call like I was a gangster, over and over again, “quid pro quo”…These guys, they’re sick, they’re sick people…Adam Shifty Schiff comes out from a very secretive room, Intelligence Committee or whatever, and he meets the press right in front, the press is going crazy, they’re going crazy because they’ll do anything to hurt Trump, anything. They’re evil people (in many cases, some cases they’re great people), but a lot of evil people.”

John, as Trump and his MAGA rivals compete for attention and the GOP presidential nomination, they will attempt to outdo each other with more brazen and dangerous attacks not only on me, but the free press and our democracy at large. These attacks are not OK. That’s why your support to help us respond today is so important. Chip in if you can:

I won’t stand idly by while Trump continues his assault on the free press and the First Amendment. They are central to our democracy, and must be defended.

Thanks for doing your part to help today,

— Adam
