Happy International Women's Day!

Today (and every day) we celebrate women around the world and their contributions — women as activists and leaders, women as parents and caregivers, women as a voice for justice and a force for change.

I'm never going to pass up a chance to honor and lift up my sisters around the world — but to be honest, it can feel hard to celebrate. Because I know there are constant attacks on and threats to women's health care and access. One of which is the global gag rule, a dangerous anti-abortion policy that risks the health and lives of women and girls around the world. While President Biden acted quickly to suspend the policy during his first week in office, it could be reinstated at any time by another administration.

The global gag rule:
  • Blocks access to health care,
  • Stifles local advocacy efforts, and
  • Undermines reproductive rights worldwide.

Tell your members of Congress to end the global gag rule once and for all by supporting the Global Health, Empowerment, and Rights (HER) Act.

The global gag rule is a direct attack on health care and access around the world. Until we end the global gag rule for good, it will continue to jeopardize the health and well-being of millions of women and girls.

When in effect, this cruel policy forces organizations to choose between receiving U.S. global health assistance and providing their patients with information, referrals, or services for legal abortion.

Take Action

Decisions made in the U.S. have a huge impact on sexual and reproductive health care access around the world. The global trend is toward expanding access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, including abortion, and the U.S. should build on that progress — not stand in its way. The Global HER Act would stop the global gag rule once and for all.

This International Women's Day, Tell Congress: Cosponsor the Global HER Act.

Let's keep working for the world that women deserve. Let's keep honoring and celebrating their leadership. And let's knock down the barriers to care, no matter what it takes.

Thank you for joining us in this fight,
