Wednesday, March 8, at 10:45 am, Governor Tim Walz, joined by Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, signed the executive order reaffirming existing rights for LGBTQIA+ people in Minnesota to access gender-affirming care and declaring Minnesota a refugee for those seeking gender-affirming health care services.
“When someone comes to me and says we’re trying to ban gender-affirming care, what they’re saying to a trans person is we prefer it if you weren’t here,” Rep. Leigh Finke (DFL-St. Paul), who is the state’s first out transgender lawmaker.
Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan says, “Our trans and nonbinary youth deserve to be their full, beautiful, authentic selves without fear. We see you, we value you, we love you.”
You can’t have a day celebrating International Women without intersectionality. We’re excited about more protection and policy change for communities’ well-being.
