Dear John,

“If you have no road map, you have to create your own.” - Jacqueline Woodson

Planning for the future is like planning a road trip. You map out your journey, considering factors such as travel expenses, company you’ll keep, places you’ll see and experiences you’ll have along the way. Deciding in advance what is important to you (and how you might handle bumps in the road) ultimately leads to a smoother experience. Over time, Parkinson’s will change what you and those in your care circles do and how those things are done. Having important discussions about future care needs and financial security early on will help identify what’s most important to you, and you’ll have peace of mind, knowing you’ve mapped out your journey in advance.

This month we will be hosting a two-part webinar on creating a roadmap for the future:
Part 1: Care Planning - What You Need to Know to Plan for Care and Health Needs

We invite you to join us for the first session in our two-part series, “Creating a Roadmap for the Future.”

On Wednesday, March 15 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET, Marla Buchholz, Social Worker will discuss planning for care throughout the various stages of Parkinson’s:
  • When is the right time to consider changes to your care plan?
  • Getting started
  • Public and private homecare options
  • Day programs
  • Care partner respite options
  • Long-term Care Homes
  • Substitute Decision Makers
  • Palliative and Hospice care
  • …and more
We will also be joined by care partner, Penny Eccles, who will share her experience of navigating care options.
