The Washington Post reports that Fox Chairman Rupert Murdoch, "comes across as a fully invested partisan warrior, with no pretense of balance in his political preferences."
That's based on damning new details about Fox that are continuing to emerge as the media digests thousands of internal documents, emails, and text messages among Fox executives and stars that have been made public as part of the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit.
Earlier, it was reported that Murdoch admitted under oath that prominent Fox hosts knowingly spread false information and narratives about election fraud in 2020. Murdoch also admitted that he colluded with Jared Kushner to provide the Trump campaign with confidential information about Biden campaign ads and debate strategy.
Fox knowingly lied to its viewers, and this week it is clear that the lies and misinformation will continue. On Monday, Fox allowed Tucker Carlson to use cherry-picked video footage to push lies to millions viewers that the deadly Jan 6 insurrection was nothing more than a "peaceful protest."
Fox should be held accountable -- under the law and by their peers in actual news organizations. That’s why we’re calling on the White House Correspondents’ Association to remove Fox from the press pool.
Being part of the press pool means that for many events, every other outlet is reliant on Fox because they have the only reporter or camera in the room where news is being made. That should no longer be true.
This avalanche of new court documents show that Rupert Murdoch, some of Fox’s biggest media stars, and many top executives knew Biden won the election -- but they continued to lie to millions of viewers anyway.
In the immediate aftermath of the insurrection, Tucker Carlson defended Trump to the hilt to his millions of viewers. But The New York Times reports that in a text exchange with his staff, Tucker Carlson said "We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait. I hate him."
When Murdoch was asked if he could have stopped Fox News from putting on the air Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and others promoting Trump's Big Lie, Murdoch said under oath "I could have. But I did not."
Every day that the White House Correspondents’ Association allows Fox to participate in the White House press pool, they give legitimacy to a right-wing propaganda outlet -- and are complicit in Fox continuing to misinform millions of people.
