Defunding the Cradle to Prison Pipeline®
CDF-California used a multi-sector approach to support dismantling of
Juvenile Probation in Los Angeles-the largest youth justice
system in the world. With partners and youth leaders, CDF-CA helped
defund school-based probation's budget. Over $4 million has been
redirected to the Ready to Rise program for diversion and youth
development.

A Victory for Youth in Care
Two years of CDF-Ohio advocacy culminated in May 2022 when Governor
DeWine signed HB4, creating Ohio's first Youth Ombudsman office.
Ohio is now the second state in the country to have an office
specifically focused on enforcing the rights of youth in care and
investigating violations.

A Milestone Against Child Poverty
CDF-New York successfully advocated for the largest investment in
child care subsidies in New York State history-$2 billion to
increase the number of families receiving child care financial
assistance and the amount child care providers are paid for their
essential services. Our latest Ending Child Poverty Now report found
that expanding child care subsidies could reduce child poverty in NYC
by 12.2%.
