Dear John,
I'm writing today with a very important reminder!
If you live in Dallas, Greene, Hale, or Sumter Counties and suffered damage from the January 12th storms, you have until Thursday, March 16th to apply for individual assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
There are several ways to apply:
Please note that FEMA will not duplicate benefits. If you have insurance, you should file a claim with your insurance company before seeking assistance from FEMA.
If you applied for individual assistance through FEMA and were denied, make sure to file an appeal, as appeals will continue to be processed after the deadline.
Following the storms, I have made it my mission to get our communities the resources needed to rebuild better and stronger than before. I remain committed to ensuring my constituents can take advantage of the critical assistance available right now!
If you have questions, I invite you to join my Disaster Assistance Telephone Hall tomorrow, Thursday, March 9 at 6:30p.m. CT.
Join me for an interactive conversation along with our special guests:
- Kevin Wallace - Federal Coordinating Officer, FEMA
- Nivory Gordon - Alabama State Director for USDA Rural Development
- LaTonya Stephens - Director of Recovery Operations at Alabama EMA
- Sherrod Schuler - U.S. Small Business Administration
I want to hear from you, which is why our discussion will also feature a LIVE Q&A session where you'll have the opportunity to ask us your questions directly.
Click here to RSVP and receive a call. You can also join by dialing (877) 353-4701 at the time of the event.
Should you need assistance, please do not hesitate to call one of my district offices where my friendly staff will be happy to answer your questions or connect you with a caseworker. Phone numbers for each of my offices are listed on my website.
Please be sure to check in regularly with our website and social media pages (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) for updates.
As always, take good care. I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell
