After the catastrophe in East Palestine,
Ohio, it’s clear to anyone paying attention that rail companies must be
appropriately regulated.

Failure to enforce basic environmental and safety protections causes
unnecessary pain for Americans and wreaks havoc on our communities and
environment.

That’s why progressive leader Rep. Ro Khanna and Rep. Chris Deluzio have
introduced a new plan called the DERAIL Act.

Our Revolution is proud to support this legislation to enforce higher
safety standards on the railways.

The rail industry has used its economic power to exploit its workforce,
deny sick days, and furiously lobby to keep inadequate regulations,
putting workers and communities at risk of toxic exposure and long-term
ecological damage.

The company responsible for the East Palestine catastrophe, Norfolk
Southern, was caught lobbying just three months ago against a bill that
would have required trains to have at least two crew members in case of
emergencies.

Enough is enough; it’s time to take action to protect our safety.
