Friend — 1 year ago, our team at the Fairness Project stepped into uncharted waters alongside our partners in Michigan to launch the first-ever ballot measure campaign to proactively safeguard abortion.
Michigan was one of NINE states that had an abortion ban on the books when the Roe v. Wade ruling originally came out, and we knew it was a real possibility that in just a few months an anti-abortion Supreme Court would rule on Dobbs v. Jackson, ending decades of precedent by overturning Roe v. Wade — putting this ban back into effect.
We had no choice but to take action to proactively protect abortion rights in Michigan, so alongside the ACLU and Planned Parenthood, we launched a ballot measure campaign. Remember this?

Over the course of the next 8 months, voters across all party lines from every single corner of Michigan rallied behind this movement and fought hard to preserve their reproductive freedom. And our history-making campaign broke records, team.
753,759 signatures were submitted to qualify this measure to appear on the ballot in November — almost DOUBLE the amount required, and the most ever submitted in Michigan history! And on Election Day, Michigan voters from all walks of life came together and decisively voted to restore their right to reproductive freedom once and for all.
We’re proud of every single campaign we’ve run, friend. But we are especially proud of this one. At a time when it felt like SCOTUS and extremist officials across the country left us stranded without reproductive health care access, this campaign proved that ballot measures could be the last line of defense to preserve our most personal freedoms.
So, on the 1 year anniversary of this history-making campaign, we’re here to ask if you will continue to power our critical work with a donation today, friend. 10 states remain where we could support a ballot measure campaign just like this one to help voters restore their right to abortion. Will you help us gear up for the fights ahead with a donation to power our work today? [[link removed]]
