More Affordable Homes Now, Groundwork for Deeper Solutions Later: Our 2023 Legislative Agenda

SB 4 flyer that says Keeping the Faith for Housing Solutions

Our 2023 legislative agenda is out! This year, we’re focusing on making it easier to create more affordable homes right now while also strengthening our local communities’ ability to engage on housing solutions in the near future. We’re also looking at ways we can deepen our collective regional approach toward the production of more affordable homes, because our regional housing needs deserve regional solutions.

Check out our sponsored and supported bills to see how we’re approaching these priorities.

Priority Bill: SB 4 (Wiener) for Keeping the Faith in Housing Solutions

SB 4 (Wiener) offers new solutions to bring more affordable homes to Californians and more family-supporting jobs into our economy, by leveraging community partnerships with faith-based organizations and colleges to put their land into utility for our communities’ greatest needs.

Ready to Take Action? Help us pass critical legislation! Show your support for affordable housing solutions by submitting an organizational support letter for the following bills:

Welcome Cory and Dave to NPH!

Headshots of Cory and Dave

Join us in welcoming our newest staff members: Lead Narrative Specialist Cory Fischer and Director of Campaigns & Community Engagement Dave Brown!

Cory (he/him) joined NPH to help grow public support and political will for the transformational housing solutions we need to unlock a more equitable and thriving future. Prior to joining NPH, Cory served as Senior Director of Communications and Narrative at Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, where he led a team to shift the narrative about antisemitism, bring issue campaigns to life, and deploy research-driven messaging and creative content to win change at the ballot box.

Dave (he/him) joined NPH to lead NPH's state and regional campaign initiatives, as well as work with the team to grow our member/resident voter engagement and capacity building programs. Dave was the longtime Chief of Staff to the late Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan, where he played a leadership role in three successful countywide tax measures, including Measure A1, the $580 million affordable housing bond. After Supervisor Chan's passing, he served 14 months on the Board of Supervisors where he championed health equity, tenant protections, and strategies to empower BIPOC communities most affected by COVID.
