John, when I chose to run for Congress, I knew that my community and my generation didn’t have the luxury of waiting around to be handed a seat at the table – especially a young Muslim candidate like me.

We’re facing regressive sexism that’s rolling back our right to choose, all while our planet is facing the deadly consequences of climate change.

So I knew running for office wasn’t about the title, it was about survival. It was a simple choice between trying to fight or living in fear.

While we did not get the results we were hoping for, I don’t regret my decision to run at all. In spite of it all, nothing made me more hopeful than seeing the drive and motivation that our campaign inspired, reigniting the fire in me to give back to my community with Brighter Future PAC.

John, Brighter Future PAC gave me a chance to use that joy and momentum from my congressional campaign and adapt it to uplift young, progressive candidates like me to run for office. But I know we can’t help these candidates without grassroots support from people like you. You helped me during my campaign and I need your help again to make this movement a success. Can you please chip in $15 to help us keep going? >> ([link removed])

I’ll be honest, John, running on such a public platform came with hardships. The most painful part wasn’t the financial or logistical strain – it was seeing the vicious Islamophobia that hurt so many in our community.

Realizing the entrenched nature of Islamophobia in our politics made me even more determined than ever to fight.

We ran a grassroots powered movement, facing barrier after barrier of right-wing super PACs and billionaires funneling millions to defeat us. But it did not stop our grassroots movement, powered by everyday small dollar dollars like you.

I know if I were to run again, I would run with the same passion, inspiration, and support that was with me the first time – supporters like you, John, who believed in the unprecedented power of our movement. That’s how I know the kind of candidates you and I believe in can’t keep succeeding without you.

I need your support today to power this grassroots momentum we’ve built and stand with young progressives fighting for a brighter future. Together, we can achieve progress. Please chip in $15 to keep the momentum going and fuel our efforts >> ([link removed])
