Dear John,
You probably don’t need me to tell
you that Best for Britain stands in opposition to the proposals to
detain and deport all asylum seekers
crossing the English channel, giving them zero chance of even applying
for asylum let alone getting the protection so many of them dearly
need.
This isn’t an achievable policy - it’s performative
cruelty.
We know why this Bill is being
proposed, and it’s not because the government has any realistic
strategy to implement it. In fact, Suella Braverman has already
admitted that it’s almost certainly breaking the European Convention
on Human Rights.
The truth is that they’re picking a
fight they know they’ll lose so that they can clearly draw the
dividing lines for the next election. They’ve lost the
argument on Brexit and are scrambling for a new culprit to
blame for the country’s ills to distract us from the crises they’ve
created across our NHS, ambulance service and food aisles.
We won’t let them punish legitimate asylum seekers as a way
to distract us from their failings:
Best for Britain and supporters
like you are proud internationalists who believe Britain should stand
by victims of war and tyranny regardless of where they were born, and
are campaigning tirelessly for this government to fulfil its
obligations towards refugees rather than demonise the people who need
our help the most.
But to take a stand I need your
help. Do you have time to visit our Nationality & Borders action
hub?
Here are some actions that you can
take right now
-
Write
to your MP - Use our
Hey-MP tool to show MPs just how much opposition there is to Suella
Braverman’s cruel plans
-
Sign
the open letter - Take a
stand against performative cruelty - sign the open letter
- Donate
so we can get more signatures - Help us reach more people, and stop these disgusting bills
becoming law
Thank you for all you do to help support our work.
Best
wishes,
Naomi Smith
CEO of Best for Britain
