Hi there,

Today is International Women’s Day – an important day to highlight a reality that was brought to our attention by our friends at WomenCount: the number of women in Congress could fall in 2024. It’s becoming a scary time to be a woman in America – and we can’t afford to lose any advocates in the rooms where decisions about our lives and our bodies are being made.

We need to ensure that doesn’t happen. Currently, 73% of Representatives are male, so losing even a single seat would devastate our fight for equality. Will you help us elect progressive, pro-choice women by rushing a $20.23 contribution now?

There are 125 (out of 435) women in the House and 25 (out of 100) women in the Senate, which, believe it or not, is record-breaking. But those numbers are set to dwindle. Here are the facts:

🚨 10 Democratic, woman-held U.S. Senate seats are on the ballot in 2024.

🚨 2 Democratic female U.S. Senators have announced their retirements: Dianne Feinstein (CA) and Debbie Stabenow (MI).

🚨 0 women have declared for California’s 47th District – the seat currently held by Rep. Katie Porter, who is running for California’s now open Senate seat.

🚨 And then this: Former NY governor, Andrew Cuomo, has shown interest in primarying Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in New York. Not only would this threaten her re-election for the first time in a decade, but this would be a huge step backwards for all of the women who bravely came forward to expose his disgraceful behavior while in office.

This is a dangerous time to be a woman in America, with extremist anti-abortion bills dropping regularly, loosened gun control measures for domestic abusers, and a national mental health crisis among adolescent girls; it’s critical that we have progressive women advocating for us in the halls of power. We need representatives who will fight for women’s rights, health, and safety – not wishy-washy politicians who don’t care about our future.

We need to increase the number of women in office – not lower it. We cannot sit back while women lose power in our legislative bodies. We’re going to fight to ensure representation for women is always growing. That’s why we’re here – that’s the country we’re working on building.

In honor of International Women’s Day, can you pitch in $20.23 to help us continue to elect progressive, pro-choice women candidates up and down the ballot? →
