CLASP is excited to announce that over the past several months we have been working with the American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF), the National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC), and the Corps Network (TCN) to design an National Alliance of Youth and Young Adult Advocates that seeks to offer all young people equitable pathways into adulthood. Today, the Alliance is launching this effort publicly.
For decades, the U.S. has lacked an integrated and comprehensive vision for the transition from childhood to adulthood—a vision for how youth and young adults pursue meaning, secure stability, experience wellbeing, access opportunity, contribute to their communities, and find satisfaction in their lives The Alliance's effort brings together national nonprofits that work to support Opportunity Youth, and will soon add more partners that reach young people while maintaining a focus on equity and justice.
We are seeking partners in this National Alliance of Youth and Young Adults Advocates, who will help to:
- Build on narrative change efforts to tell a new story about the transition to adulthood.
- Identify data and research projects that will highlight what’s working, and what’s needed, for young people.
- Facilitate connections among coalitions at the local and national levels, harness new grassroots enthusiasm, and build the power of young people and advocates.
- Pursue shared policy goals, increase the prominence of youth and young adults across policy debates, and ultimately transform systems.
CLASP will share more about this effort in the coming months, but visit www.nayyaa.org to learn how you can get involved.
