All over Pittsburgh, I saw young women who looked like me who wanted to fight for change.

Throughout Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting some of the young changemakers of today, like IGNITE’s Pittsburgh Fellow, Alexis Walker. Below is a message from Alexis about how IGNITE's resources and training have helped her make a long-lasting impact in her community as she advocates for voting rights and pay equity.

Blog covers part 3 (84)-2 ([link removed] )

John, I always knew I wanted to make a difference.

But as eager as I was to stand up and protest for things like better tuition and voting rights, I still didn’t really know what it meant to be an “advocate.”

Then I found IGNITE, and I took my advocacy to the next level.

When studies found that my city was the least livable for Black and Brown women out of every other demographic, IGNITE’s training helped me advocate for pay equity to create more economic opportunities for our communities.

When young women at the University of Pittsburgh needed help making their voices heard in their communities, IGNITE’s resources helped me guide them toward their advocacy journey.

And when I realized that I wanted to be in political spaces and make my voice heard by protesting and educating others about the issues, IGNITE's network of changemakers all over the country helped me make that possible.

John, there are a lot of young women like me who want to fight for change but don't know where to start. IGNITE is meeting these young women where they are and providing them with the tools, training, and networks to make their voices heard.

But for more young women like me to make a difference, we need your help. Can we count on you to donate anything you can to IGNITE so that the next generation of young women can own their political power? ([link removed] )
