I'm sure you are just as outraged as I am watching these impeachment proceedings. In this country we are supposed to have a balance of power, but what we have is an abuse of power and this president's outright refusal to uphold his oath. How will we protect against the decline of our democracy? Here we are in the most critical election year of our lifetime.
The balance of power doesn’t work when one branch won’t uphold its oath. That’s why every single seat in the House and the Senate is crucial this year, and we need to fill both houses of Congress with people who will place the best interests of the country before their party.
As a progressive Democrat in Congress, I will hold the president accountable, period, no matter which party they belong to.

Residents who have lived in Missouri’s 1st their entire lives have told us over and over, it's time for change. They support me because they are deeply concerned about poverty, crime, environmental racism, healthcare and education, not just for themselves but for future generations.
When I talk to young people, they are losing faith in our government. And I don't blame them. Putting power, party and donors over people has become the new normal. Let's be clear, what is playing out today didn’t start with Trump, but it needs to end here.
