LEGISLATION PASSES THE HOUSE 386-31

My amendment to the REIN IN Act passed the House 386-31, with broad, bipartisan support.

My commonsense transparency amendment requires the White House to report to on a public website how each executive order and federal regulation affects inflation. More transparency leads to better policies, and the American people deserve to have access to the inflation impact reports associated with new federal mandates.

This amendment received strong House support, with every Colorado Democrat and Democratic leadership (including Nancy Pelosi) voting for it. The full roll call vote of my amendment passing the House 386-31 is available here.

This new era of bipartisanship was made possible by the historic rules changes that I was able to secure by standing strong with the Patriot 20. The result is good governance and better policies for the American people.

MY AMERICAN ENERGY ACT INCLUDED IN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES’ ENERGY PACKAGE

My bill, the American Energy Act, was included in the House Committee on Natural Resources’ TAP American Energy Act which will reduce gas prices and ensure American energy dominance.

With the average price of gasoline nationwide currently sitting at $3.41, Republicans in Congress are taking action to streamline the energy permitting process and encourage responsible energy production. My legislation will help reduce gas prices by providing certainty for energy producers with extended drilling permits and will protect energy production from frivolous lawsuits.

The House Committee on Natural Resources Energy and Minerals Subcommittee recently held a hearing on the TAP American Energy Act, and I spoke about the benefits that it will bring to Colorado’s Third District.

SUPPORTING THE PUEBLO MEDAL OF HONOR BOULEVARD EXTENSION PROJECT

This past week, I submitted a grant support letter for the Pueblo Medal of Honor Boulevard Extension Project. Improving infrastructure and transportation in rural Colorado communities is one of my top priorities in Congress.

The Pueblo Medal of Honor Boulevard Extension Project received the approval of voters in Pueblo County who agreed to pay 50% of the costs. My grant request letter asks for the Department of Transportation to cover the other 50% of the project in a federal-local partnership. The Medal of Honor Boulevard Extension Project would create a new connection between the City of Pueblo and communities in the western sector of the county, providing improved access for pedestrians and bicyclists. Additionally, it would reduce congestion and create a backup in case of emergencies like fires and flooding.

IMPROVING I-70 CORRIDOR RESILIENCE

I also submitted a grant request letter for the I-70 Corridor Resilience and Connectivity Improvements Project. This grant will improve I-70 detours like Cottonwood Pass by making safety and mobility repairs like curve softening, enhancing sight distance, and increasing road width.

This grant request builds on my previous work to strengthen and support I-70. When I-70 was shut down for 16.5 days following a catastrophic mudslide, I immediately was on site and led Colorado’s bipartisan congressional delegation in securing millions of dollars in emergency support.

INVESTING IN MESA COUNTY

Additionally, I submitted a grant request letter supporting the Mesa County Orchard Avenue Project. This infrastructure project will connect impoverished rural areas to employment opportunities in Grand Junction. Additionally, it will create essential multi-modal transportation options to connect residential areas to nearby parks, schools, social services, and jobs.

My team has successfully helped people in the District who weren’t getting answers from federal agencies, like veterans seeking to get the care they earned from the VA, travelers needing expedited assistance to receive a passport on short notice, taxpayers being harassed by the IRS, senior citizens having issues with the Social Security Administration or Medicare, and more. My serves Coloradans at my three district offices in Pueblo, Durango, and Grand Junction and at mobile office hours across every county in Colorado’s Third District.

My office has hosted over 175 mobile office hours in every county in the District, helped over 1,667 people, and returned over $2,153,176.28 to constituents. From helping a veteran who had to wait 14 months for care cut through the bureaucracy, to helping a traveler receive an expedited passport, my team and I are always busy helping Coloradans.
